Looks aren't that important to her

George is dating Paula whom he met at Elaine’s Art class. While on a double date with Jerry and his date at a restaurant, Paula is doodling on a napkin. As they are getting up from the table to leave the restaurant, George sees the doodle and takes it with him. George thinks that the doodle is a grotesque drawing of him and he shows it to Jerry. He asks Jerry how could anyone like someone if they think that they look like that caricature. George is concerned that Paula doesn’t like him and he asks Elaine to ask Paula if she likes him at their next Art class together. At the next class, Paula tells Elaine that she likes George, and after a slight pause, she adds that looks aren’t that important to her.

Funniest scene:

Elaine is already at Jerry’s apartment when George enters. George asks Elaine – Did you talk to Paula? Elaine responds that she did. George asks – So what did she say? Elaine responds – She likes you. George becomes excited and says – She said that she like me? You’re kidding. She said that? Those were her exact words? I like George. How do you like that? You see, I get myself into a tizzy. I’m all worked up, and for what? Elaine says – For nothing. In fact, she said looks weren’t even important to her. George, still elated, continues – You see… and then he realizes what Elaine just said and asks – What? Elaine realizes that she said too much and says – Oh no. George asks Elaine – She said that looks aren’t that important to her? Elaine says – Let me re-phrase that, she… George doesn’t let her finish and says – She thinks that I’m ugly. I knew it. Jerry tries to console George and says – Well, see, the thing of it is, you know, there are a lot of ugly people out there walking around, but they don’t know they’re ugly because nobody actually tells them. George asks Jerry – So what’s your point. With a blank face, Jerry says – I don’t know. Then Elaine says – OK. The point is, George, she likes you. George says – Oh, so what? I rather she hate me and thought I was good looking.
